14th Leica Street Photo Competition is Open for Submissions
Today, Leica Street Photo announced it’s now accepting submissions for its 14th annual street photography competition. There are superb prizes available, including the opportunity to have your street photography featured in one of the world’s most prestigious galleries.
14th Leica Street Photo Contest
The 14th Street Photo competition is free to enter and is open to anyone in the world. It’s important to know that while you can submit any type of street photography, the image you choose to submit must have been taken within 2024.
It’s also worth noting that successful finalists may be asked to submit an image that includes metadata. This is to authenticate the image and to confirm when it was made. Edited images are fine to submit, but of course, it is not permitted to submit AI generated images.
From all the submissions (of which there was 10,000 last year) 30 finalists will be selected. All finalists will have their photography exhibited in the world renowned Leica Gallery in Vienna, Austria. From the 30 finalists, Leica will select an overall winner who will receive a Leica Q3 (28mm) which many believe is one of the best cameras for street photography.
Submissions for the competition are open from now until January 10, 2025 (19:59 PM CET).
Why Enter Leica Street Photo?
For transparency, I was a finalist of the 13th Leica Street Photo competition. My image was exhibited in Vienna, as well as two other galleries in Europe. I was lucky enough to visit the Vienna Gallery and see my work around all the other excellent street photographs.
It was a dream come true to see my work in print, especially in a gallery that’s exhibited the likes of Steve McCurry, Elliott Erwitt and many more. I found this far more validating than any amount of likes one can gain on social media.
Opportunities like this are few and far between for many of us, especially without being asked to pay to submit your work. Leica’s commitment to street photography is evident by not asking for a submission fee, instead making this opportunity available to everyone, from all backgrounds, all around the world.
There’s nothing to lose by submitting, and everything to gain. You can add your frames into the mix by the Leica Street Photo submissions page.
